About Zenia
Cuban born artisan Zenia Lis founded 'Jewelry by Zenia' in 2002. Art has been a great career choice for Zenia who has since sold thousands of her own designs.
Zenia was born in Matanzas, Cuba. When she was nine, her family migrated to Spain and later to Florida. As an immigrant from a communist country, you never take anything for granted. Moving to a capitalistic country meant lots of opportunities for the family and they all took that seriously. Her dad, also an entrepreneur taught her that if you work hard and smart you can achieve any dream. That ethic has stayed with her.
Zenia may have left Cuba as a child but, the beauty of the beaches from her native country has continued to inspire many of her designs. Zenia loves to use natural water colors like turquoise, aquamarine and natural chalcedony and coral as they remind her of the pristine beauty in those beaches. Her hard work ethic is also evident in her designs which give a new meaning to detail and beauty. Most recently, Zenia began creating her own metal pieces as accent to her beaded designs. She has attended classes at a Cleveland studio to master the labor intensive skills involved in the lost wax process.

Zenia graduated with a BA from the University of South Florida and later earned her MBA. She has worked for Cox Newspapers as an advertising account executive, Colgate Palmolive, Eastman Kodak and AGL Resources where she held various marketing and product management positions. "Every move taught me more about different aspects of business."
Zenia is married and lives in Ohio with her husband, son and daughter. The family enjoys vacationing in warmer climates and boating. Zenia's favorite past-times include going to the beach, gardening and personal fitness. Having a home based business gives her flexibility to stay actively involved in her children's activities.
